Israel Trip Day 6- Jerusalem

March 14th, 2015- Saturday

In Israel, Saturday is the Sabbath. We went to the Orson Hyde park before church.

It is a beautiful, peaceful spot.

I enjoy seeing out trips through my kids eyes, even if I have to see past the blurriness!
Hyrum walked around a rock and called for help because he was "stuck".
We had a great view of the Old City.

Lots of olive trees just outside the park.

Next we went to church at the Jerusalem Center.

It's a beautiful chapel with windows on three side over looking the Old City.
The kids enjoyed the fountain outside after church.
Hyrum loves playing in water.
Here's a picture of the Jerusalem Center on the hill.
We drove to the top of the MT. of Olives. It was a gorgeous view. The side of the mountain is covered in graves.

The kids like the camel, of course!
Then we went to the Garden of Gethsemane. It's actually a small place with several old olive trees and a church.

We went to Bethlehem (it's in the West Bank). All around the West Bank are tall cement walls.  On the inside the walls were painted.

This was or least favorite place we went. The people were very aggressive. We drove to the tourist area. I guy told us to follow him to a parking place. It was very crowed. and we ended up driving through the crowd on a one way street to park in a narrow ally.
We were nervous about leaving the car were it was or getting blocked in so we only saw one little church and an olive wood shop and left.
We had to wait in a long line of cars to get out of the West Bank. Sadly the people let tourist leave knowing why the West Bank has the reputation it has.

That evening we walked a bit by the Old City for dinner. Josh got his visa card stolen.
We had a great morning but by the end of the day we were happy to go back to our hotel.
